For Ubuntu (11.04), type the command in Terminal.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:pmjdebruijn/darktable-release-plus
sudo apt-get update
Then Search "darktable" in Ubuntu Software Center to install.
